So I have a 8 month old male ferret. About 2 hours ago, he used the bathroom and it was sort of thin and orange. He has not been fed today until just now, however he has been drinking normally and is running around right now. He doesn't seem to be in pain or anything, just the weird poop. Could it be because he hasn't eaten today? (I know they have quick digestion) or something more serious? Any help is appreciated!

if he has a blockage it would be acute - meaning out of the blue he's flat on the bottom of the cage and vomitting - i should say if it's from eating something he shouldn't - if it's a hair ball it could come on slower
you're a good ferrant for noticing but one bad poop doesn't ring the alarms anymore for me - if it happened more than once I'd get to a vet to get checked
also - is your ferret eating a raw diet? having not been fed yet in a day is alarming to me if they're on kibble - a ferret, for the most part, does not over eat. and they have a very fast metabolism as you mentioned - so they need to be able to eat whenever they want. even if they're on raw - I'd suggest a high grade kibble for free feeding in between.
good luck and keep us posted
