My son's ferret, Bella, is dying. We've expected this for some time as she is very old. She has not eaten or drunk or moved much for several days. Her breathing seems labored but the most disturbing thing is the fact that she screams occasionally. We are prepared for her passing and ate ready to let her pass at home but the screaming indicates pain and all the local vets are closed for the long weekend. Is there anything I can do to ease her? Currently she is wrapped in a blanket being cuddled by my son. She's calm. But any help will be appreciated.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just now saw your post. I would not have been any help earlier probably since getting Bella to take anything by mouth would have been useless. I'm glad she's out of pain but sad that you lost your old friend. RIP Bella. Hugs to your family.
