Please help. I got my ferret from Animal City, and they just arrived from Marshall Farms. My little girl is supposed to be 8 weeks and I just don't believe it. She is clear eyed, looks, and acts fine ( I am a Vet Assistant and I don't think it yet warrants a vet visit) so it may just be stress from the transport. Then again sometimes ferrets are sneezy just by simply sniffing everything. Just to be careful I wanted to know what can help her get an extra boost. Should I be softening her kibble or anything special? I was thinking of some stage 2 Gerber chicken baby food. I've also known ferrets to shiver without being cold, but if she is truly as young as I suspect what temperature is comfortable for her? I may be worrying for nothing but I want to do absolutely all that I can for her. Tips for bonding with her would be appreciated as well.

The stage 2 turkey or chicken baby food sounds like a great idea to build her up a little. She may like it right from the jar but some like a little warm water added for a soupier texture. As for warmth, a normal house temperature should be ok and make sure she has something soft and warm to burrow into. As far as bonding....I think that will happen all by itself. It sounds like you already love her so she's bound to love you right back Good luck and please let us know how you're both doing.

I soften the kibble and put it in a blender with .....ugh it just escaped me...not Gerber...Beechnut! lol had to do a Google search for baby food lol Beechnut's chicken baby food is chicken and water - Gerber add's something to it. Turkey would be fine too. Blend it to a thick soup consistency and then I pour it into ice cube trays for portioning later from the frozen cubes. no need for ferretvite, ferretlax or anything that's got a picture of a ferret on it really - other than Ferretone and Nbones I don't recommend anything else. Ferrets body temps are higher than our own and she might enjoy a warmer spot if she's so tiny and young but it's hard to suggest a hot water bottle that she might enjoy gnawing on (bad) or something electric that she may chew thru (also bad) I guess I'd use the excuse to bond and have her snuggle with you - baby ferrets, or kits, are super fun and then super sleepy pretty quick find the balance between bonding and causing seperation anxitety though -I find another ferret is best for that Pictures please

Thank you both for your advice.I did not know Gerber added to their baby food, I'll certainly get the one you suggest. I was torn between a single ferret and two as I know they are just so much happier, but the boyfriend wanted to start at one. He works at home (the baby is set up right in his office but we move her room to room wherever we are) and I'm currently not working due to back injury so we have plenty of time for her. When that changes or if we sense she's missing a companion of her own kind we'll certainly do so. I attached a photo of her, hope it works. Attachments:

What a cutie she looks about 8 wks old most of my kits looked about her size when I got them except one very tiny one her name was Peanut she fit in the palm of my hand when I got her and I have very small hands. I always have different toys that are really sleep pocket animals like the fish and the elephant I got at one of the ferret stores online and they love to go inside and curl up and that kept them warm and still does. They also like to go under blankets too somewhere dark and warm. Wet their kibble for a few days and I always have duck soup around for them to try so I get them use to it early on in case they ever get sick and need to be fed by hand and chicken and turkey baby food are always in my duck soup. My kits fell asleep on me at first then most can't sit still long enough to after a bit but at least at first they did and some of mine actually still do. Good luck with your little one and keep pictures coming we all love them here.
