Just a few minutes ago my ferret started screaming in his cage. At first glance it looked like he'd fallen and hurt himself but then I noticed he was foaming at the mouth. He'd urinated on himself too. He never goes outside so it couldn't be rabies could it? I just did some quick reading and saw it could be insulinoma. Any ideas or help would greatly be appreciated.

First when this happens rubs some syrup on his gums. If it's a "sugar crash" it will help bring him out. If not it's something else going on and needs to see a vet ASAP! I'm sending good thoughts and prayers.

Yes, get him to a vet ASAP!
One thing you can check right now is to see if he has anything stuck in the roof of his mouth. I'm assuming he's on a kibble diet? Sometimes, depending on the size/shape of the kibble, a piece of kibble can get stuck in the roof of their mouth. It's difficult bur if you scruff him (hold him by the scruff of the neck and he'll yawn. At that moment gently place something like a pencil between the jaws and then quickly feel with your index finger around the roof of his mouth. Be careful; ferret teeth are sharp. He could also have something stuck in his throat. If you think that is the case you can see if he can swallow a good squirt of hair ball gel. That might dislodge it.
Usually a ferret will paw frantically at his mouth if something is stuck in that region and yes, it can be a sign of internal illness as well.
Does your ferret free range in your house? If so, there is always the potential that he got into something that is causing the problem.
Please keep us updated on how you go with your little guy.
