Help! My little one has had sudden onset of hind end weakness. She doesn't appear to be in any pain. She's eating and drinking and moving about in mostly her normal routine. She can stand and walk normal sometimes but she usually falls over after a few feet of walking. It appears to be more sever in one hind leg than the other. Most of the time she just drags her little legs around. She's been an otherwise healthy ferret this just showed up yesterday. Was perfectly fine the day before. I'm looking for some home help as to anything I can do as I've recently lost my job and an expensive round with the vet is not in the cards but I have to help my little one.

It could be several things. She coudl have had a small accident and either pulled a muscle/damaged a nerve. You don't mention her age but in adrenal they lose muscle tone and I've had two that developed back leg weakness. I'm hoping it's just a sprain and I'm sending lots of good thoughts and prayers.

Also consider insulinoma. There is nothing you can do at home for that other than make sure she eats often. I would keep a very close eye and if she doesn't get better fast, you might ask if your vet will do a blood glucose test without charging you for a full visit. They're only (or used to be only) about $15.
Like Barbara said, you didn't mention your baby's age. Its less likely to be one of the mentioned illnesses if she's very young.

just letting anybody who wanted to kno the status of my 4 month old ferret... he seems to do pretty well on the carpet and he tries to chase my cats when they pass by him and he just acts like he is a tiny baby learning how to walk. but his spirits are there and other then that he doesnt move his back legs much and iv noticed his front ones must be getting sore from when he drags his back end. the poor lil guy iv done so much research and even paid the "ask the vet" things and im not getting answers. he goes crazy for plastic bags and things that crinkle and loves to eat... i just wish there was something i could give him that could maybe ease any pain he is having so that he can get stronger. any help and advice would be great!!

So did you get him to the vet? It could be neurological or something with his spine.
