hello....Maya has Insulinoma.....diagnosed just a few weeks ago.....she started on. 8ml of Pred and we went down to. 7ml after a few days and her symptoms came backso we went back to .8ml. just a few days later and her symptoms returned again so we upped it to 1ml and her symptoms are back again  i think she had a seizure last night... she is 100% litter box trainer she never misses...now its like she cant get into the box and she goes beside it. she has major hind leg weakness and falls a lot besides that she is bright eyed and eating what i want to know is is if she is suffering i am on vacation this week and she is with me....do i need to get her to the vet or just keep upping her meds? |

fyi i called the vet but they didnt call back and being 9:30 i dont imagine they will call anymore tonight...

Sorry to hear Maya isn't responding well to the meds. I don't know if she is really suffering... they say that they don't feel the seizures but I cannot imagine she feels too good either. Are you doing soup too? Tamma did so well with the pred but I'm wondering if it was because she was always-always-always eating soup.
I think I would take her into the vet - with her normal diet... not fasting - and with her normal dose of pred in her system, and see what her BG is. Maybe there is something other than insulinoma going on.

I don't know if she is suffering.... I think I'd try the vet again today. I'm sorry you are going through all this.

the vet did end up calling back at 10pm! i was amazed. anyway she said the same thing...not suffering but not comfortable. she said to up her meds till 1.5ml after that things need yo be revaluated. this morning she either pooped on herself or dragged herself through it so we took a warm bath. the when we were drying off and getting soup ready she poopee on me. so we took another bath. she is eating only soup....i cant get her to eat kibble or even Nbones anymore. just soup and ferretone.
today's dose was 1.2ml we'll see how she does

Poor little Maya - she must feel lousy. I'm hoping the medication does something to help fast. Please keep us posted.

gave 1.3ml last night and she is better this morning so i gave her 1.3ml again today. shes still unsteadybut was a lot stronger. thanks for your support

i think she had a seizure last night...
all my kids are doing well otter is getting real beefy feeling <winter weight?> and his coat is getting real soft not many noticeable changes overall,, new guy is getting big
Daxy is SO happy the weather is cooling off! He doesn't like the AC - it limits him to one room but when I let him go other places, he just flat ferrets cause it's too hote
