Well that's definitely not a good sign. He definitely needs to be seen by a vet. At the very least, please call the vet's office and ask to talk to your vet. Also, explain your money situation. Most offices are willing to work with you if necessary.

I've not had that problem so far. Have you given him any laxative? You can try plain pumpkin, about a teaspoon full and see what happens. I do think he needs to see a vet if you're sure is was poo.

not sure if this was resolved but wanted to mention that was the first symptom Fuzzy had with his IBD, he needs to be seen, they can dehydrate and go downhill so quickly.

I don't mean to sound rude (I really don't), but you should not have multiple (or really any) ferrets if you cannot afford vet visits (including emergencies). When they get sick, it's quick and they have to go to the vet or you can lose them quickly. Please look into some payment plans with your vet, or maybe even getting a credit card just for them so you can take them to the vet in these situations. Please understand I am trying to be helpful and not rude, but it breaks my heart to think someone will lose their baby when they don't have to.

It's great that you're an observant ferret owner and noticing when things are not 'right' in the weasel poop department. Our domestic pet ferrets are sadly quite fragile little creatures and fall victim to a host of diseases and medical problems. Aysia is right; they go downhill very, very fast.
The clear looking poop is probably indicative of food nutrients not being properly absorbed. With a very high metabolic rate your ferret eats every three hours or so in order to stay healthy. Poop is always the first indicator that something amiss is happening. Continue to keep a close eye on your ferret; I would strongly suggest you start putting some money aside right now for a vet visit. Most of us can cut back on a few non essentials for a few weeks in order to pay for a vet visit. Most vets charge anywhere from $30 -$45 for a consult. It's not a fortune these days. Though I certainly know what it's like to be broke and counting every penny.
One way to save money when you visit the vet is to take a Walmart Pharmacy list print out of all the $4.00 prescription drugs they carry. Your vet is required by law to write you a script that you can fill at any pharmacy if you ask. Recently a law was passed in Canada (not sure about the U.S. as my American vet does not charge for scripts) that allows vets to charge for issuing scripts. My Canadian vet charges me $10 a script; I take that script to Walmart and pay only $4.00 for Amoxycillin (with three refills over a twelve month period). Amoxycillin is widely used for ferret ailments.

The only reason I didn't have the money was because I had just paid $120 for all their exams then $60 more for ear mite meds...on top of that we just lost our place I take care of them more than I do myself I make sure I always have extra food for them and not myself. I just wanted someones opinion in case he was really sick, I understand you don't mean to be rude but he is fine now it only happened once..I don't want to seem like a bad ferret owner because I know I take great care of my babies

Oh well I knew as soon as I hit "Post Reply" that it would be taken the wrong way. I don't think you are a bad ferret mommy at all. There's just a lot of people out there that don't realize the cost of a pet (especially a ferret) and can never afford to take them to the vet when they need it and it just makes me sad. I am glad you are not one of those people.
