We all have unexpected things happen in our lives. We may be layed off from our job, have unexpected medical bills, car repair etc. Our pets shouldn't be denied the medical treatments that may be necessary to save their lives! There is help that may be available to you! Here are a few places that I have found that offer financial aid and/or credit cards specificly for vet bills! There are strict requirements for some of them, so I suggest reading them fully so if you ever do need to take advantage of them, you will know what to do and what to tell your vet! I am not 100% possitive that ferrets are covered by ALL of these companies, but many of us have additional animals. I'm sure that some of them DO cover ferrets! www.imom.org/www.carecredit.com/ (this one covers more than just animals!!) www.uan.org/lifeline/index.html www.help-a-pet.org/ www.thepetfund.com/

I highly recommend Care Credit. My dog, sparkey, was very ill and CC was the only way we could help him. They are flexible on payments and most vets AND Emergency Vets take it. As stated, it can be used for people, too. But this on was reserved for our fuzzies. It's our $1k emergency medical stash.

THANK YOU LIZZ!
I was worried sick. I've been looking for a house, i've got money saved up but i might have to use all of it buying house stuff, painting, furnature and all that and i was worried sick over "what if one of the fuzzies gets sick and i don't have the money to give them the care they need?!" I will definatly look into this.
If i could get this for my fuzzies it would ease my mind soo much.

Care credit has saved my dogs' lives twice. The first time my lil guy, Tido, had an allergic reaction to his flea meds, and the second time was when my puppy ate a fleece blanket, needing surgery for an intestinal blockage. I would not have been able to pay for these things otherwise. Thank goodness for CareCredit or my babies wouldn't be here today!

If I hadn't gotten care credit, I would've had to put one of my ferrets to sleep. His adrenal disease was getting so bad that his prostate was enlarged and cut off the flow of urine from his bladder. One day I noticed he couldn't urinate at all and the vet was like this is an emergency he will die if we don't do emergency surgery. At the time, my credit card was maxed out from a surgery he had. I literally had 2 bucks in my checking account. I couldn't ask my parents because they would never give me the money. I called care credit and they only gave me 600 bucks because of my credit card being maxed out and me not having any money. A friend of mine co applied for me and that gave me 500 more dollars.

How does Care Credit work? Do you pay a monthly bill or something, or does it just lend you money when you need it?

I believe it's just like any other credit card but I think the moment a charge is made on it it attracts interest - just like a cash advance on your credit card. I may be wrong about that though. Obviously it can be a wonderful life saver but best to remember there is no such thing as free money.

Be very careful with Care Credit. I have an account set up, in fact it covered two pet surgeries this year that we couldnt afford, however, it is DEFFERRED INTEREST for a year. You pay no interest the first year as long as you make your payments on time. You must pay off each balance within a 12 month period of the interest of the enitre period can be attached to the balance. That also applies if you make a late payment. The regualr interest is extremely high!!! So dont go crazy with one of those cards and make sure you make your payments on time and can pay off your balance within a year. I actually got the account last year for dental work for me and my son. It is a program for medical cost.....4 legged or 2 legged
