I have a question and need some help. We are newbies to ferrets. We have had ours now for about 2 months. Today my husband was vacuuming under the loveseat and accidentally set it back down on top of the ferret.
Right now he seems stunned. He is breathing and we have seen him waddle around a bit but it seems that all he wants to do now is hide. If I hold him he does not wiggle around at all. (sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't under normal circumstances.)
I know ferrets like to sleep a lot...could he be just tired? Do I need to be worried? Like I said, he can walk and there is no bleeding or anything.
Thanks for your help. We adore him and will be just sick if he is hurt.

animals hide when they're sick or injured because they don't want to seem like easy prey to predators - he doesn't know he doesn't have any at your house - it's his animal instict to hide. even so he's not bleeding that you can see he may very well have internal bleeding and when you weigh approximately two pounds any blood loss is significant.
I'm concerned when you say "you've seen him waddle" - I wouldn't describe a healthy ferrets movements as waddling.
He needs a vet and probably x-rays or an ultrasound.
Good luck and please keep us posted

Not knowing the exact position of the ferret and furniture, internal injuries are possible. I did the same thing a couple years ago, but I broke Icy's neck. Please get him checked out, if you haven't already.
