Hey! I'm posting under guest while i await approval, but i have some worries about my ferret that I wanted to address sooner rather than later!
The last couple weeks Ferdi has been losing weight and hair, he's 8 years old. Tonight we found a bump on his hip that is blueish and soft and moves a little bit under his skin. Anyone have any idea what that could be? I'm also really worried about his weight and hair loss but i know it could be due to age, something i'm not really ready to face either.

At his age I suspect adrenal problems are causing the symptoms, a simple implant of supralorelin could control that and have him back on track in no time. At his age surgery would be something I wouldnt consider. The lump could be many things, at that age a check up every 6 months is a good idea to catch things before they get out of hand, I think its time to get that done and see what that lump might be. Ferrets problems seem to escalate quickly so its best to deal with them right away rather than using the wait and see method, just my opinion from my experiences mind you.

I think a vet visit for him would be best. I agree he sounds adrenal and the lupron/des would help. I have an 8 year old too and I'm very cautious about what medical procedures he can have because he is fragile. I call him, lovingly, my nursing home ferret. As for the sore, does it look like a dried up tick? It could be a mast cell tumor. They are benign and usually fall off by themselves. Could you maybe post a pic?

thank you guys so much we're looking into bringing him to the vet soon. his stomach has also gotten hard, which we noticed today so we think he may have bad constipation from the new food he was eating so for now we're giving him some of the ferret lax to see if he feels any better

You can use plain vasoline or pumpkin too. I'd be very careful though. For the vasoline my vet had me give 1 cc orally three times for 3 days but their stomach wasn't hard.

I agree with the others re a vet visit. You mention you think he may be constipated. Are you monitoring if he is pooping at all and if so, what is the color and consistency of his poop? Icky though that question is, the state of a ferret's poop will tell you a lot about what is going on internally for them.

I agree with the others that, unless he is better by the time you're reading this, he needs to see a vet. Anyone with ferret experience knows that its not uncommon for a ferret to get very sick very suddenly, even when they seem somewhat stable for several days in a row. If you think he's not right, please don't waste time.
Sending good thoughts... please keep us posted. You have no idea how we worry about every little fuzzie in our EF family.
