I posted this in the medical board, but I think it is more of an emergency now: My Tabby has become very ill all of a sudden. She is about 7 years old (not sure because she came from a shelter). About a week ago she started having green diarrhea. I finally got her in to the ferret vet yesterday (he was booked solid) and he said there was bacteria in her poo, and he felt a lump in her lower side. She is on antibiotics, but I don't know if they are getting in as she spits it out immediately. I have tried everything to get her to take it, but she spits and shakes her head everytime. I notice she doesn't seem to be eating and drinking anymore, and I can't get her to take anything by a syringe without it getting spit out. She finally ate a chew stick, but vomited right after. She won't even take any ferret lax. I am at a loss as to what to do for her. Does anyone have any advice?
UPDATE: She is now crying all of the time. She has never done this before. Is she in pain? I don't know what to do for her. Please someone give me some advice.

Get her to a vet now! It won't take long for her to get dehydrated as well which will complicate everything. She may have a blockage. If possible you should call one tonight and and see if they will come in. I have had to do it for my little girl when she got sick. They will probably charge a fee for it being an emergency visit. But if it is as bad as it sounds she definately needs attention now.

It does sound like pain to me. I wouldn't leave her that way. Even if there is nothing that can be done, it sounds like she is suffering. If she's not getting the antibiotics or any food and water she is not going to get better, and maybe the vet can get that into her.
I'm sorry - please let us know what happens.

Well she has stopped crying and is more like her old self today. The vet gave me some pain meds for her. She is sleeping a lot now on those. She is taking her antibiotics, reluctantly. She is drinking and I think eating a little. Her poos look normal again, except they are still a little green. I think if she is not better in a couple of days, it will be time for the final vet visiit...

I'm glad she's doing better. Does she like ferretone? You can mix her meds with ferretone and see if she'll take it better. As far as I know, antibiotics are the hardest meds to get into a ferret. What antibiotic is she on? If she is taking her meds and showing improvement after a day, it is working. Her poop is looking better so if she's eating and drinking, let her run her course of antibiotics and see how she's doing then.

oh no! I'm sorry to read all about Tabby Sorry i haven't had a chance to check in. I'm glad she's not crying anymore and is eating and drinking a lil more. Only you can make the call about the final vet visit - and she'll let you know when it's time. I think it's smart to try to give the antibiotics a few days before deciding. Unless she's obviously in pain or uncomfortable anyway. Big hugs and keep us posted please.

She seems to be getting better still. She was on Metronidazole and the medicine is finally done. She is still on pain meds. She is pooing normal again and eating/drinking. She has more energy also. I am cautiously hopeful, but I know the tumor will take over soon. If she is in pain and I can tell, I will consider putting her out of her misery. But for now, I think she is doing pretty well. Thank you all for your concern and advice.

She is doing very well. I am wondering if she just had the flu and was feeling really sick. I was so worried! Now she is back to her old happy self - getting into trouble, hiding in my drawers and the occasional poop on the floor. lol
