Well, Boodles took to scratchin, and tore open his suture. Shoulda done this on Day 2, but we had to fabricate an E-collar for him, We attached it to his harness using duct tape. (That'll fix anything.) No, he don't like it, and yeah, he hates it, but he's able to eat and slowly getting adjusted. This was the prototype. We made another out of plastic, but it weighs a bit more so we're going to leave the paper one on until it needs replaced. We tried an infant sock to cover it, but it's too high on his neck, and the sock slipped down off of it.

had to go to the plastic cone this morning. tonite i had to cut it back on the bottom just so he could sleep more comfortably. 5 minutes after i trimmed it i picked him up and now he's sleeping in my arms. Booboo is pushing 6 yo and he's NEVER slept in anyone's arms. I think he's been panicked because of the cone cutting his peripheral vision and he couldn't lay his head on anything soft. Maybe one good thing will come out of this and he'll be a bit more cuddly. He's been thru a lot in the past couple months. Dar24 had a real estate class an hour away and Boo and Kahlua went with us so they could get their pred on time. I would study at the nearby Starbucks and then take them for walkies at the class site. That lasted 3 weeks.
man he is wiped but a bit relieved i bet. and i'm lovin havin booboo sleepin in my lap. he IS SOOOOOOO cute

well it appears the settings at work have been modified and I can't see any photo's but I'll take your word for it Poor old man - it's so nice when a ferret who's never been snuggly wants to snuggle but I also hate that it means they aren't feeling well. Rylee was so snuggly at the end and Gabby has been since Rylee left. It means you're a good ferrent though and that he trusts you to take care of him. Gentle kisses on the nose Booboo - feel better soon!

Boo FINALLY had his Elizabethan collar removed, and Dar24 said you've never seen a happier ferret. She immediately gave him a bath to remove any tape residue and accumulated oils and guess what she found.... FLEAS! They were all treated with Advantage II 3 weeks ago, but that was about the time of his surgery, so he was skipped. I have a suspicion that the cat owned by an elderly lady that we do some care-taking for is the source of the fleas. The other day as I was leaving her house a I saw a flea jump off my hand. His wound is looking good. He'll probably end up with a big scar, but he could care less. We now have a collar if needed. If we had put it on the day before we did he would have been out of it a week sooner. Another lesson learned the hard way.
