Hey everyone thanks for your thoughts and prayers. J.J. Seems to be doing better he seems a bit more perky and has been eating and drinking on his own. He has been getting lots of love and attention and i have been cuddling with him as much as possible since he lost his cuddle buddy. I haven't put him back in his old cage though, bc it is large and in the other room and i feel like he should be in the bedroom with me and my bf so he doesn't feel so alone and i can keep an eye on him through out the night just by looking over the side of the bed. I am probably going to move him back into it soon however bc the one i put him in when im in bed or not home is quite small and he needs more space to move around. So im going to be rearranging my apartment a little soon.

Im so sorry for your loss. Is there a chance of maybe adopting a lone ferret at a shelter or are you not ready for another. Glad JJ is doing better. I heard that is helps when an animal gets to see the mate deceased so they know what happened. Maybe that is why he is doing better. Thoughts of comfort going out to you and your baby

i have 2 ferrets we got them together at the petstore...so they have grown up together...they are 5 years old...this morning i found one of them dead and the other was curled up next to him in thier cage. Mieko, the one that passed, was lying there with his mouth open and everything that normally was pink was now a black purplely color. It scared me half to death and i was in shock bc he was just fine earlier the night before...hes always the real hyper one running around and when hes in his cage hes always making racket..his death was so unexpected. Anyway although i am confused on why he passed, i am more curious as to what i should do with my other one J.J. the two of them were very close i am worried he is going to get lonely and im also worried about what i should do with the cage... Should i clean it to disinfect it incase there was something in it that made my other one sick? or should i leave it as is? as soon as i saw mieko passed i grabbed JJ out and gave him a bath because he was all curled up with Mieko's dead body and i didnt want him to get sick from anything...I just dont know what to do...i need help if any of you can answer my questions...right now i just have jj curled up in a blanket sleeping in my lap. thanks Blu

I'm so sorry for your loss, cj. I don't know how old he was, but it's a bit comforting to know he went in his sleep. I know how hard it is.

I'm sorry to hear that, CJ. It's always so hard to lose one of our babies.

Mine just died. Came home yesterday to find my newer ferret dead Navi wasn't super bonded yet, they had just started to bind recently. She does seem less interested in playing. But is still eating and drinking fine. But I guess my question is: when do i get a new ferret? I would obviously keep them in seperate cages near each other so Navi doesn't too stressed from the new one and do everything slowly, but I don't know how soon I can get her a new friend? Would it be fine to get another now so she can slowly adjust to her new friend and be less lonely sooner or give it until my next paycheck in a week?

I also have 2 ferrets named lenny and pheonix and one day we let them out of the cage to go play around the house. Then lenny went missing and we searched for hours. Later our neighbor told us that lenny got out of the house and that her dogs killed him. I really hope Phoenix will not stress over not being with lenny. When we let Phoenix out the next morning he didn't play at all instead he searched for lenny. I really want lenny to rest in peace.

I'm still having a hard time (since June 1st, 2017). I'm glad your neighbors told you what happened to Lenny, so you aren't still searching and wondering if he is okay. Although I'm sorry it happened. I hope you and Pheonix are doing well these days. I think Lenny is playing at the bridge, while he waits for you all to join him. RIP Lenny.
