I live in Clarkston, about 30 minutes outside of Detroit.
I have so far seen two different vets with my ferrets.
The first I went to (and will continue to see) was Dr. Engel at Parkway Small Animal & Exotic.
Here is their information:
Parkway Small Animal & Exotic
39321 Garfield Rd
Clinton Twp, MI 48038
Dr. Engel was very responsive to all of my concerns and she gave me estimates and told me what she was doing and why. I liked that she talked me through stuff, especially with the condition Akito was in. She also did not try to rob me. The cost was fair and I was very happy with the visit overall.
The next vet I saw, which was today, was Dr. Chris at VCA White Lake Animal Hospital.
I got a free exam here for buying a ferret from Petland, but when you go in they tell you you're getting the exam for free, but are being charged $23.65 for a distemper shot (even though she has already gotten one).
I say okay and we go in. Dr. Chris is not responsive at all. I can tell he does not take his Petland visits seriously and I was very much agitated by him.
After all is said and done, my bill comes to just over $28 and I'm wondering where the extra $5 comes in.
It is labeled on my bill as "Biohazard Waste Management". Can anyone even tell me what the heck that means and why I paid $5 for it? The vet did not explain to me why an extra $5 got tacked on to my bill.
In any case, he told me to come back in 2 weeks for Ummei's rabies shot. I'm not going to bother. We are taking Ummei to Parkway Small Animal and Exotic for her rabies shot in 2 weeks.
Don't even bother with VCA. They're terrible and I'm highly unimpressed.
