Re: Financial Aid for you PETS!! « Result #1 on Dec 28, 2009, 5:18pm »
Be very careful with Care Credit. I have an account set up, in fact it covered two pet surgeries this year that we couldnt afford, however, it is DEFFERRED INTEREST for a year. You pay no interest the first year as long as you make your payments on time. You must pay off each balance within a 12 month period of the interest of the enitre period can be attached to the balance. That also applies if you make a late payment. The regualr interest is extremely high!!! So dont go crazy with one of those cards and make sure you make your payments on time and can pay off your balance within a year. I actually got the account last year for dental work for me and my son. It is a program for medical cost.....4 legged or 2 legged

Watch out, because what one does, the other learns. My sweet little Dakota was the nicest little boy, until Tamma taught him a thing or two Even though Dakota was always a bit better behaved, they were like Bonnie and Clyde sometimes.
But so much fun!! Enjoy them - when your heart rate returns to normal
TAMMA- the first to teach us about ferret love. RIP baby girl. We miss you more than you can know. 6-4-09 ADRIAN a.k.a Ghosty - the one year you spent with us wasn't long enough. Rest peacefully my little diva. We miss you. 3-7-09 DAKOTA - always and forever missing my sweet boy. 1-2-08

No kidding!
Our first major incident was letting them play with a paper towel tube unsupervised. The same chocolate girl got stuck in it! I have no idea how she fit. I went in to check on them, and she was just laying on her back on the floor and she had gotten the tube pulled over herself. Her little head was sticking out one end, rear out the other. It didn't even look real it was so odd. She was just laying there like, "Hi! How ya doing?" like nothing at all was wrong. I laugh about it now, I mean she looked so pathetic. I wish I had taken a picture, it just looked so odd!
She was also able to squeeze out from underneath the bathroom door when she was a bit younger. I woke up from a nap on the couch, and she was on my legs. I really almost had a heart attack then, I thought it was a rat or something!
She's gonna be keeping me on my toes, that's for sure! Her sister is spunkier, but not nearly as mischievous. Or not yet anyway.

We have 2 young ferret girls, and are also first time ferret owners. The girls spend their days playing in our bathroom and sleep in their cage at night.
I went in to play with them, but didn't see my chocolate girl anywhere. Then I saw it! The heater vent had been pulled up from the tile & pushed aside. I ran and got a mirror and flashlight, and she was just sitting there several feet down. She did come to me after a few minutes, thank goodness. My heart is still in my throat several hours later! This could have turned out so horrible!
I just wanted to post this, as a warning to others.
[edit] I'm sorry, I just realized I posted this in the wrong area.
Magical Moro. She has laser vision, created water, and can fly. Ezra. She screams a whole lot, sort of like one of those Scandinavian metal vocalists. She says it's because she was blessed with a musical gift. I say it's because she's as deaf as a doorknob and can't hear herself! R.I.P Okkotonushi A.K.A Okkoto, and R.I.P Moro, the best two ferrets in the universe.

I have juvenile diabetes so i know how bad a low blood sugar can feel. I was wondering if it might save me a little money to get them tested if they use my meter. i will of course let them do the lancing. test strips for glucose meters typically cost 75 cents a strip so i dont understand why it would cost $15-$20 to have their sugar checked.
There is one brand of human meter that can esily be calibrated to register well on ferrets- dang but ithe brand escapes me.. anyone remember it?
Great list. I personally would recommend saving more, as much as possible! Don't stop saving at $500 or 1000. You could easily spend that in a month if you get a really sick fuzz or they need surgery. If you can't save up that much, make sure you have a credit card with multiple thousands of dollars available for the ferrets if they become ill.
ABSOLUTELY!!!! some of each paycheck of mine goes into a separate fund just for ferret surgeries, and emergencies.
Re: Duck Soup Recipe and Instructions « Result #16 on Aug 23, 2009, 10:07pm »
there is a recipe on the first page of this post. the main thing for your little guy is keeping him hydrated and getting protein into him. even if all you have to add is water and some raw meat that is fine. it will still help a bit.

Hi there I have been referred to your infamous duck soup. I have a little guy that is sick and going to the dr tomorrow morning. Please read my post in medical section titled "walking problems please help" Any how I live in Canada and I can't find duck soup mix anywhere in this city, is there another way or if worst come to worst I can order it online if I have to. I have never heard of such thing as duck soup for ferrets so please excuse my ignorance. I really am worried about my lil mans! and will do anything I can to make him feel better. So any advice anyone can give will help me so much.
Ferrets USA 2010 Annual Magazine Article « Result #18 on Aug 5, 2009, 7:42pm »
Hello everyone! My name is Erika Sorocco, and I am writing an article for Ferrets USA Magazine (for the 2010 Annual issue) about ferret cages/habitat setups. I am covering various different aspects, from how different cage/habitat setups were thought-up and created, how their ferrets like it, etc.
I am looking to interview ferret owners for my piece. The interview would be conducted solely Online via e-mail, so that you can answer the questions at your leisure (as long as I receive the answers by the specified date).
Those interviewed will receive a complimentary copy of the magazine, in addition to having their name, and, quite possibly, pictures of their beloved ferrets’ cage/habitat featured within the magazine’s pages.
If you are interested in being interviewed, please e-mail me ASAP at erikasorocco@aol.com; I will then proceed to e-mail you with the interview questions.
Thank you so much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you!
